Picto Watch

Picto Watch

Originally conceived in 1984 by designers Steen Georg Christensen and Erling Andersen, the Picto is an attempt to capture a picture of time.  The face has a steel dot that marks the hours and traditional minute hand, which remain stationary while the dial rotates presenting the illusion of the earth moving and time passing.  Picto is the first wristwatch to use this rotary disk system, which is powered by a Miyota Quartz movement.

The watch’s minimalist form and unique mechanism earned it a place in the permanent collection at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
